A bespoke project by Siderio: an elegant railing where metal, light, and artisanal detail redefine contemporary elegance.
Tailor-made metal craftsmanship meets expressive architectural design. In collaboration with architect Alessandro Dotti, Siderio contributed to the creation of a custom staircase for the headquarters of a leading industrial company in the rubber sector. The key element of the intervention is the steel railing, crafted from thin folded metal sheets, precisely designed to integrate seamlessly with the overall architectural volume.

The key element of the intervention is the steel railing, crafted from thin folded metal sheets, precisely designed to integrate seamlessly with the overall architectural volume.
To eliminate the typical metallic resonance and enhance the material’s sensory quality, the hollow structure was internally padded with wood panels. This drum-style construction softens sound and gives the surface a warmer, more refined feel—ideal for a space that merges functionality with prestige.

Light as a design element
An invisible LED, a custom fold, and a solution designed to the millimeter. One of the project’s defining details is the angular break along the inner metal panel halfway up the railing. Far from being decorative, this feature was carefully engineered to create a slight inward incline that accommodates a concealed LED strip, hidden from view. The light subtly illuminates the surface, highlighting the material depth of the finish and the accuracy of folds and joints.
The project spanned over a year of development and execution, requiring a high level of coordination between architectural intent and technical precision. One of the key challenges was working with extremely thin steel sheets, laser-cut, bent, welded, and bonded onto wooden backing panels, all aligned to the millimeter.
This custom railing perfectly embodies Siderio’s approach to contemporary craftsmanship, where architectural detail becomes a canvas for technical experimentation and expressive design, in the true spirit of Italian excellence.
