Geometries in Motion: a sculptural metal gate for a winery in Franciacorta

Cancello Ronco Calino

When metal becomes an architectural gesture: a gate where form, light, and matter converge in a project of pure contemporary expressiveness.

In the heart of Franciacorta, for the renowned Ronco Calino winery, Siderio created a custom metal gate that blends engineering, craftsmanship, and design. An artwork designed by Viola Associates born from metal itself – shaped into language – capable of expressing the identity of a place devoted to excellence and the slow rhythm of wine.

Dynamic sculptures of light and matter

The project features three-meter-wide metal discs, crafted from domed steel bases and precisely plasma-cut to create a sculptural metal gate. The surface, marked by an intricate pattern of solids and voids, comes alive with natural light: the metal breathes, transforms, and reflects. Each shift in brightness becomes part of the story, giving the gate a constantly evolving presence.

Every disc is unique, varying in shape and size, the result of a dialogue between industrial precision and artisanal sensitivity. The dual finish in gold and anthracite enhances contrasts and deepens the material texture, giving the surface a living, almost vibrating quality. What begins as a functional element becomes a dynamic sculpture, a symbol of welcome and identity.

Metal as a language of contemporary design

In this project, Siderio interprets steel not as a constraint but as a possibility. The solidity of the material opens to new expressive forms, becoming a medium that connects architecture, light, and landscape.

Every detail reflects a knowledge that merges technical mastery and the poetry of craftsmanship, transforming a metal gate into a distinctive statement of style. The result is an artwork that transcends its function, an architectural gesture that tells the story of a winery’s soul and the timeless value of human craft.
